Icon Group has officially signed a Commissioning and Operational Management Service Agreement for cancer centres to be built with Guangzhou University of Traditional Medicine (GUOTM) Jin Sha Zhou Hospital and Chengde Chong Yuan Investment Group Co. Ltd.
Two centres will be constructed with Jin Sha Zhou Hospital and one centre for the Chengde Chong Yuan Group. The first centre will be built in Jin Sha Zhou Hospital and will have seven bunkers and 400 inpatient beds, with radiation oncology services offering the latest cutting-edge technology including a CyberKnife, Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerators, Tomotherapy Machine and Proton Unit.
This agreement will see Icon Group managing design, construction and commissioning of all three cancer centres. Icon will also deliver clinical operational management as part of the partnership, this will including training, education, technical expertise and quality assurance to ensure the residents of Guangzhou, Chengde and surrounding areas receive world-class cancer care.
Group CEO Mark Middleton says this next step into Asia aligns with the company’s mission to continue to provide access to world-class cancer care where people need it.
“Over the next two years the cancer burden in China will increase by 70%, we are here to make a difference. I and all of Icon Group are excited to work with our Chinese partners and bring Australian expertise and cutting-edge techniques to the people of China.”
The first of these centres is scheduled to start construction in the coming months.
