About the role:

As an Clinical Pharmacist at Slade Pharmacy, you will oversee the dispensary role, be involved in medication reconciliation and be involved in the provision of oncology services. The role will involve supporting the Maitland pharmacy department and wider allied health team. 

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy, including oncology. Training will be provided to the successful candidate. A genuine interest in clinical pharmacy oncology, and a passion for learning is a must! 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be involved in oncology services - onsite training to be provided by trained pharmacists
  • Perform medication chart reviews and medication reconciliations
  • Participate in clinical screening of cancer care medication orders.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products
  • Educate and counsel staff, patients and allied health professionals
About You:

  • A registered pharmacist with Australian based pharmacy experience.
  • Current and advanced hospital pharmacy experience, including effective clinical pharmacy skills.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant aspects of hospital pharmacy and demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) Guidelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient focused care and pharmacy service in professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure, to meet time constraints and determine work priorities and a high level of organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to support pharmacy team in professional development and daily clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to build relationships and work in partnerships.
  • Commitment to participate in personal and departmental ongoing professional development, continuing education, and peer review.
  • Developed understanding of PBS and chemotherapy funding model in Australia.
  • Oncology and/or Haematology experience within a day unit or hospital setting.
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications such as Master of Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and skills in computing systems, especially those relevant to hospital pharmacy and therapeutics.
