The Opportunity:
Slade Pharmacy in partnership with Epworth Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced AMS pharmacist to join our team in the full-time AMS Pharmacist Lead position.  Together with the AMS Infectious Diseases Physician program lead, the infection prevention team and hospital executive members, the successful candidate will direct the phartmacist-led Antimicrobial Stewardship program across Epworth Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:
Actively liaising with the hospital as the Lead Pharmacy representative in the AMS team, you will conduct daily review of patients who are prescribed restricted antimicrobials and ensure the Epworth Healthcare AMS program meets national accreditation standards (National Safety Quality Health Services Standards) for Standard 3 – Antimicrobial Stewardship.
  
Working Monday to Friday, this role is ideally suited to someone looking to take the next step in their clinical career and expand their horizons in this true specialist role.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Work together with AMS Infections Diseases physician program lead, infection prevention team and hospital executive members to direct and implement the pharmacist-led Antimicrobial Stewardship program.
  • Work in collaboration with the AMS team to ensure the program meets accreditation standards
  • Conduct daily review of patients who are prescribed restricted antimicrobials or are referred to the AMS team for review
  • Provide collection and submission of Antimicrobial Usage data to National Antimicrobial Utilisation Surveillance Program [NAUSP]
  • Develop and review policies, guidelines and protocols relevant to the role
  • Develop and contribute towards quality improvement projects
  • Oversee development of consumer information material
  
About You:
You are an experienced and driven Clinical Pharmacist with a passion for Antimicrobial Stewardship and quality improvement activities. Your ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, combined with your strong clinical knowledge and attention to detail, enables you to contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes in all environments.
  
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Current general registration with AHPRA as a Pharmacist, with no restrictions on practice
  • Demonstrated experience in hospital pharmacy, ideally with a focus on Antimicrobial Stewardship and/or clinical pharmacy services
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with clinicians, nursing staff, and infection control teams
  • Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills to support safe and effective medication use in complex cases
  • Well-developed time management and organisational abilities, with the capacity to prioritise effectively in a high-pressure setting
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to continuous improvement and professional development
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care with a strong focus on safety and evidence-based practice
