Director of Pharmacy - Slade Pharmacy Warragul




Are you ready to take on a pivotal leadership role that blends strategic direction, operational oversight and strong partnership management?

We are seeking an experienced pharmacy leader to oversee the delivery of high quality pharmacy services at Slade Pharmacy Warragul, located within West Gippsland Hospital. This 12‑month full-time secondment is a unique opportunity to guide a dedicated team, support service development and ensure outstanding patient care across the hospital.

As Director of Pharmacy, you will provide operational and clinical leadership to the onsite pharmacy team, partnering closely with hospital executives, nursing teams and key stakeholders to ensure pharmacy services are safe, efficient and aligned with hospital needs. This position reports to the South East Melbourne Regional Manager and plays an important role in maintaining strong client relationships and meeting performance, safety and quality standards.

Operational Oversight
  • Deliver best practice pharmacy services that support safe, high-quality patient care
  • Oversee and coordinate clinical and operational activities for the Warragul pharmacy service
  • Ensure the pharmacy meets agreed clinical, operational and business performance metrics
  • Monitor and report on service performance, compliance requirements and contractual obligations
  • Lead workflow and service improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality and patient outcomes

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement strategies that strengthen the pharmacy’s partnership with West Gippsland Hospital
  • Identify opportunities to expand, enhance or improve service delivery
  • Support long-term planning to ensure sustainability, quality and alignment with hospital priorities

Relationship Management
  • Act as the primary liaison between Slade Pharmacy Warragul and West Gippsland Hospital leadership
  • Build strong, collaborative working relationships with executives, senior clinicians and operational teams
  • Manage escalations and work proactively to resolve service issues

Team Development
  • Foster an engaged, supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Coach and mentor staff to build capability, confidence and professional growth
  • Oversee recruitment, training and ongoing development of pharmacy team members

Compliance and Governance
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory, accreditation and organisational requirements
  • Maintain robust governance processes, audit readiness and medication safety standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks through proactive planning and continuous review

We are seeking a leader with proven experience in hospital pharmacy, strong operational capability and a track record of guiding teams through change and growth. You will bring excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, strong clinical understanding and the ability to influence effectively at all levels.

In return, you will step into a meaningful leadership role that directly contributes to patient care at West Gippsland Hospital. You will also be supported by operational, quality and medication safety experts across the broader Slade and Icon network.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Pharmacist in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in hospital pharmacy services
  • Proven leadership capability and experience managing people and performance
