The Opportunity:
Slade Pharmacy Fitzroy currently has several opportunities available for motivated pharmacists looking to gain some valuable hospital experience in a part-time capacity. As a hospital Pharmacist based at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Fitzroy, you’ll join our friendly team of pharmacists and to dispense discharge and inpatient medications using Fred dispense. With a formal hospital induction program, we will train and support the successful candidate to deliver the best possible patient care.

Apart from the standard duties of a pharmacist, you’ll strongly support and counsel patients on discharge medication and provide advice and education on the proper use of medicines. You’ll also be required to support patients, carers and other healthcare professionals through the patient’s journey. 

Available shifts:
We have 10-month maternity leave cover part-time contract available, with shifts on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

In this role, you’ll:

• Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products
• Coordinate patient medication requirements for inpatient stay and discharge
• Conduct medication chart reviews and medication reconciliation
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service to clients and patients
• Support patients, carers, hospital staff and associated employees
• Educate and advise staff and customers on health promotion, disease prevention, drug selection and the proper use of medicines

Who we’re looking for?
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic pharmacist who meets the following key criteria:

• Holds a current Pharmacist AHPRA registration 
• Experience in an Australian based retail or hospital pharmacy
• Sound knowledge of Fred dispense (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
• You’ll be a great communicator both verbally and in writing
• You’ll have proven time management skills and a key eye for details
• Empathetic and understanding mindset
