Laboratory Technician – Slade Health

  • Permanent Full-Time Position - 9AM to 5PM Monday to Friday– Mt Kuring-gai, NSW Location
About Slade:
Slade Health is a national provider of aseptically compounded chemotherapy, antibiotics and analgesic medicines. It operates TGA Licensed manufacturing facilities in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and a MedSafe licensed manufacturing facility in New Zealand.

About the Role:
This role of Laboratory Technician will be part of Slade Health’s scientific team and work in Slade Health’s laboratory. In this role your work will support the compounded products and manufacturing activities of Slade Health’s compounding facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be involved in:
  • Conducting microbial culturing on agar plates and in liquid media
  • Performing microbial identification testing using MALDI-TOF
  • Review microbiological and environmental monitoring results
  • Supporting ongoing calibration, verification, and certification activities
  • Operating, calibrating, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting analytical instruments (where appropriate)
  • Performing routine and non-routine analysis for stability studies of:
    • Complex biological molecules (e.g., monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates)
    • Small-molecule pharmaceutical compounds (e.g., cytotoxics, antibiotics, analgesics)
  • Performing sample collection, handling, and preparation for downstream analytical testing
  • Participating in method validation and execution of analytical and biological test methods
  • Recording, interpreting, and reporting analytical results in compliance with QA/QC requirements
  • Establishing, maintaining, and reviewing laboratory and workstation quality records
  • Ensuring instrumentation reliability through regular troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • Supporting all phases of electronic and physical laboratory record management
  • Following documented procedures to maintain compliance with accreditation standards
  • Testing and assessing drug infusion devices to ensure performance meets specification
  • Monitoring and maintaining consumable and reagent inventory
What we are looking for:
  • Candidate must have a degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical, or other biological/analytical discipline.
  • You will ideally be familiar with the strict requirements of GMP.
  • You will be able to prioritise workloads to ensure that desired outcomes are achieved to challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • You will have good attention to detail, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
Essential Required
  • Demonstrated experience in microbial identification testing and culturing (agar and liquid media).
  • Experience with HPLC (SEC, HIC, CIEX, RP) and sample preparation techniques
Desirable
  • Experience in operating a Maldi-tof for microbial identification
  • Experience in a similar role would be highly regarded
  
This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis working 76 hours per fortnight (Mon–Fri). Slade Health Mt Kuring-gai is a good location to consider if you would like a commute to work that doesn’t involve CBD traffic!
