We are seeking a Senior Radiation Therapist to join our team at the Icon Cancer Centre Hobart. The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality radiation therapy planning and treatment as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. This role reports to the Clinical Lead Radiation Therapist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, safe, patient-centred clinical radiation therapy planning and treatment delivery services that complies with all relevant safety and quality standards.
- Maintain the highest standards of patient care and continually enhance the quality of service and patient experience.
- Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are met in a timely manner.
- Exhibit a strong patient focus and treating all patients and their carers with respect, dignity, and equality.
- Support a high-performance culture that delivers quality patient care services through a patient centric and collaborative approach.
- Support the Charge RT and/or RT Manager in the day-to-day management of a planning or treatment unit
- Effectively prioritise the workload and duties of other RTs on the unit
- Perform quality assurance checks on treatment plans to ensure safe delivery of care
- Act as a technical resource, and support the development of all staff in the unit

Skills & Experience:
- Proven technical proficiency in radiation therapy treatment planning and delivery.
- Eclipse planning experience preferable
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills that inspire the trust and confidence required to build strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy services.
- Ability to adhere to clinical protocols and procedures.
- Understanding of the service delivery model within the private healthcare sector.
- Demonstrable capacity to work effectively and positively both independently, and as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Current AHPRA Registered Radiation Therapist.
- Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in radiation therapy planning and delivery required to perform patient quality assurance checks
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with capacity to lead small teams under guidance
- Demonstrated capacity to develop, implement, monitor, and report on clinical protocols and adherence
- 8 chair day oncology hospital, offering chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy
- Scalp cooling system – Cooling cap available to help reduce hair loss during chemotherapy treatment
- Screening for lymphoedema risk using a SOZO machine, the latest in technology for cancer-related lymphoedema
- Radiation Therapy treatments using our state-of-the-art linear accelerators
- Treatment for malignant and non-malignant blood disorders, including administration of supportive therapies and blood products such as hormone treatments, bisphosphonates and iron infusions
- Minor procedures for diagnostic and prognostic purposes
- Genetic counselling – Cancer risk assessment, genetic testing and advice
- Access to clinical trials
- On-Site Pathology / Pharmacy
