- Brand New, Melanoma Specialist Nurse Position – Part-Time (0.6 FTE)
- 18-month part-time contract
- Role supported by Icon’s Nursing Education Team, Melanoma Institute Australia, On-Site Nursing and Medical Specialists
Because of the complex, specific and varied nature of the role, we’re seeking an experienced oncology nurse who is familiar with Melanoma and the care pathways across the range of cancer treatments available.
You will develop and implement a coordinated, evidence based, seamless patient focused approach to providing nursing care for patients diagnosed with advanced and high-risk melanoma. The level and types of intervention delivered will vary according to the individual needs of the patients in their care.
Key responsibilities include assessing needs, facilitating timely referrals, ensuring continuity of care, educating patients and families, adhering to evidence-based guidelines, driving service improvement, and serving as a liaison between patients and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
The position demands adaptability to evolving cancer treatments, supportive care, and changing service needs to optimise patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor of Nursing and a minimum of 5 years post registration
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience in oncology, melanoma or surgical nursing
- Possess or be working towards a nursing qualification in Medical Oncology, Melanoma, Surgical Oncology, or other as deemed appropriate by the organisation
- Patient teaching experience and/or a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Member of relevant professional bodies (e.g., CNSA, COSA)
- Demonstrated relevant advanced level of skill in advanced high-risk melanoma, or oncology nursing.
- Highly effective interpersonal communication and collaborative problem-solving skills in a multidisciplinary context.
- Proven leadership qualities.
- Evidence of participation in and commitment to quality improvement and best practice.
- Competence in the use of relevant information technology.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
