About the Role

Icon Group is seeking an accomplished and experienced data and privacy leader to join us as Group Data and Privacy Officer. This senior position is responsible for leading our global data protection strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant obligations and regulatory requirements across regions in which Icon Group operate, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and Germany.

Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will also be a part of the Legal team. You will work closely with the Transformation, IT, Security, Clinical Governance and operational teams, and will act as Icon's key data and privacy contact.

Key Responsibilities:
Policy and Governance
  • Lead ongoing development, maintenance and implementation of the group's data protection and privacy framework including policies, standards and procedures
  • Maintain accountability, processes and procedures for group records relating to data governance and privacy, including records of processing activities
  • Set and uphold the group approach to impact assessments
  • Maintain privacy control expectations for systems, vendors and data handling arrangements
  • Provide authoritative interpretation and guidance on data governance and privacy matters to support consistent decision making across the group
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Monitor and assess compliance across multiple jurisdictions, identifying gaps and leading any required remediation planning
  • Lead privacy risk assessments
  • Own the privacy incident and breach response framework
  • Be the primary point of contact in relation to data protection and privacy
  • Maintain oversight of third-party privacy risk
Strategic Leadership
  • Advise Icon Group's ELT on data governance and privacy risk, regulatory trends and strategic implications
Training and Culture
  • Deliver appropriate training tailored to the group
  • Continue to embed a high level of data governance and privacy awareness throughout the group, including onboarding
  • Promote ethical data handling and accountability across the organisation
About You

You will bring deep expertise in global data governance and privacy and professional maturity. You will be strategic, analytical, commercial and solutions focused and operate within a culture of excellence across a fast-paced global healthcare network.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
Essential
  • Senior experience in data privacy, data protection or compliance within a regulated environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian and relevant regional privacy laws
  • Experience leading privacy governance, risk management and regulatory engagement
  • Expertise with sensitive personal information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements for diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated independence, integrity and professionalism expected of a DPO
Desired
  • Experience within healthcare, life sciences or similarly regulated sectors
  • Exposure to multi-site and cross border operations
  • Experience supporting digital transformation or data driven initiatives
