The Opportunity
We are seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Slade Pharmacy, located in St. John of God Murdoch Hospital, Western Australia. You will be part of our oncology team. You will be part of an innovative and multidisciplinary team delivering outstanding pharmacy services to our client hospital and their patients.
  
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and broaden your career within a hospital environment, particularly in the oncology/haematology field. You’ll work closely with a caring, supportive team while acquiring new skills and knowledge in hospital pharmacy operations. Established in 1994, St John of God Murdoch Hospital has recently undergone extensive redevelopment. The facility now features 507 beds, 16 operating theatres, a new medical centre, cancer centre and Western Australia’s largest standalone endoscopy unit.
  
About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be assisting in preparing prescriptions, handling patient queries, and ensuring the timely supply of medications.
  
Key Responsibility
  • Providing high-quality pharmacy services to hospital staff, patients, and customers
  • Dispensing and supplying medications for hospital and cancer patients
  • Assisting with imprest and pharmacy inventory management
  • Delivering and collecting medications to and from hospital wards
  • Entering patient-specific data into the pharmacy database
  • Assisting with patient account enquiries and resolving issues
  • Liaising with hospital staff and associated personnel
  • Supporting the pharmacy team with general administrative tasks
  
Shifts
  • 30-hours per fortnight (Mondays and Tuesdays)
  • Occasional work on statutory public holidays, with the team rotating coverage. Each team member is expected to work 1-2 public holiday shifts annually.

About You
We are looking for a dedicated Pharmacy Technician with experience in dispensing within an Australian pharmacy setting. If you're eager to expand your skills and take on additional responsibilities, we'd be excited to have you join our team. We are also open to providing training for the right candidates.
  
Essential Requirements:
  • Dispensing experience in an Australian based hospital or community pharmacy
  • Australian working rights
  • Be able to address patient needs with confidentiality, sensitivity and professionalism
  • Have a high attention to detail
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  
Preferred Requirements:
  • Dispensary Technician Certificate or equivalent as recognised by the Pharmacy Board of Australia
