About the role
As Lead Dispensary Pharmacist, you’ll be leading a team of four Pharmacists - ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications within a clinical pharmacy setting. Unlike community pharmacy, where the focus is often on volume and retail, hospital pharmacy offers a highly technical, clinically rich environment where precision, collaboration, and continuous learning are part of everyday practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the dispensary Pharmacists to ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing
- Provide expert clinical advice and support to patients and healthcare professionals
- Mentor and support Pharmacists and Technicians in best practice dispensing procedures
- Collaborate closely with Clinicians, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in dispensary operations
- Ensure our retail pharmacy area complies with legislation and QCPP
- Deliver exceptional customer service to our patients and carers
About the site
Northern Beaches Hospital is a 488-bed Hospital providing care to both public and private patients. The hospital has a 50 bed Emergency Department, 14 operating theatres, 2 cardiac catheter labs, 4 procedural rooms providing a comprehensive range of surgical services, critical care and intensive care services. The hospital also has Maternity, Paediatric, Renal, Cancer Care and Mental Health services.
The Epic team at Northern Beaches is situated in the foyer of the hospital and has 40 full-time equivalent staff, including both Pharmacists and Technicians. Our team is split between the dispensary and the wards with Pharmacists providing a full clinical service to all inpatient wards of the hospital
About you
You are a confident, experienced Pharmacist with proven leadership capabilities. Experience in hospital pharmacy is highly valued but not mandatory as full training will be provided.
Essential Requirements
- General pharmacist registration with AHPRA, with no restrictions on practice.
- Current professional indemnity insurance
- Minimum 2 years Pharmacist experience in an Australian setting, with demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on growth and innovation
- Ability to manage a team and prioritise competing demands
- Proven ability to contribute to a team environment and develop good working relationships
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Hospital Pharmacy experience.
- Knowledge of the PBS and pharmacy legislation
