About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to lead the Medical Physics service at Icon Cancer Centre Mulgrave, covering an 8-month period of long service leave.
  
Icon Group operates nine state-of-the-art radiotherapy centres across Victoria. This role will focus on leading physics services at our Mulgrave campus, equipped with two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, Eclipse Treatment Planning System, and Aria oncology information system. 
  
Our Victorian network includes Varian TrueBeam, Halcyon, and Clinac linear accelerators, as well as advanced technologies such as SRS, SGRT, SXRT, HDR & LDR brachytherapy. You’ll have access to a comprehensive suite of QA equipment and collaborate with our national physics team via Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  
As Lead Medical Physicist, you’ll work closely with the Regional Medical Physics Manager and Group Director of Medical Physics to provide operational oversight of Mulgrave and other designated Icon Cancer Centres.

About You
You’re a motivated, positive professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for innovation. In this role, you’ll oversee day-to-day physics operations, support new technology implementation, and occasionally assist other centres across the network. Success requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.
  
Essential Criteria
  • Eligible for ACPSEM register listing in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics (or equivalent overseas accreditation – UK, USA, Canada encouraged to apply)
  • Experience with stereotactic treatments, ideally using Varian equipment
  • Proficiency in routine physics tasks, including QA and treatment planning support
  • Evidence of involvement in research and development projects
  • Ability to work independently and achieve high scientific standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum five years’ clinical experience in advanced radiotherapy
  • Experience implementing specialty equipment or programs
  • Proven leadership and resource management capability
