Medical Administration Officer


We are currently recruiting for an Administration Officer (Permanent Part-Time, 0.5 FTE) to support our Cairns radiation oncology services across Icon Cancer Centre Cairns and Icon Cancer Centre Liz Plummer. This role will work across a Monday to Friday roster, with flexibility in hours to meet service needs.

  • Work across both Cairns radiation oncology sites

About the Role:
You will play a key role in supporting the patient journey, including front-of-house reception, patient admissions, billing, and administrative coordination. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy radiation oncology service.
  
Reporting to the Administration Manager, you will work within a rotating Monday to Friday roster aligned to operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcoming patients, collecting and entering personal details
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
  • Entering and processing patient billing and balancing daily banking
  • Coordinating and tracking patient administrative pathways to ensure timely care delivery
  • Maintaining and managing patient information

Skills & Experience:
  • Exceptional customer service skills and compassionate nature.
  • Strong customer service skills with a compassionate, patient-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in medical administration (desirable, not essential)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Positive, team-oriented mindset
