The Opportunity

As our permanent part‑time Oncology Pharmacist, you’ll join a supportive and collaborative Slade Pharmacy team based onsite at the Canberra Specialist Medical Centre, within Icon Cancer Care. Every day you’ll contribute to meaningful patient care while developing your clinical expertise in a highly respected and forward‑thinking pharmacy service.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering high quality clinical pharmacy services for patients receiving treatment at our Cancer Centre. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary environment where your work directly supports the safe and effective use of medicines. Our pharmacy is located on the University of Canberra campus in Bruce, with onsite parking, a nearby café and convenient public transport options. Slade Pharmacy Canberra operates Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, giving you predictable hours with no weekend work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Using Charm, coordinate and organise the supply of chemotherapy for the day oncology unit patients
  • Perform medication chart reviews and medication reconciliation
  • Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products
  • Participate in clinical screening of chemotherapy orders
  • Educate and counsel staff, patients and allied health professionals  

About You
We are looking for a committed and patient focused Pharmacist who brings strong clinical knowledge, confident communication, and a genuine passion for high quality care. You’ll be someone who works well in a team, can manage your workload independently, and enjoys collaborating with a broad range of health professionals. Prior oncology experience is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Current pharmacist registration with AHPRA
  • Australian or New Zealand experience in retail or hospital pharmacy
  • Oncology pharmacy experience is desirable but not required
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with executives, nurses, doctors and senior hospital staff
  • A passion for delivering excellent pharmacy services to patients and the wider hospital
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and growth within the service
