About the role:
This RN role is responsible for providing nursing care to patients receiving Radiotherapy and will report to the Nurse Manager. The role involves assessing, reviewing and implementing care plans to patients receiving treatment.
The Nursing role has a great level of autonomy, while still working within a close and supportive team. It is a greatly rewarding role which provides great opportunities to build positive rapports with our patients.
The role of a Registered Nurse at Icon is invaluable, through clinically assessing, providing education, supporting patients with physical side effects, emotional support and referrals to allied health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of patient centred radiation oncology cancer care to our patients and their families, ensuring an empathetic approach to patients needs are met in a timely manner.
- Monitor and treat patients for illness and side effects.
- Maintain standards by ensuring best practice protocols and clinical guidelines are implemented and followed.
- Contribute expert advice and demonstrate contemporary nursing knowledge and skill in oncology nursing practice in accordance with current legislation and professional standards and codes of practice
- Support the Nurse Manager in the day to day operations
- Support implementation of new systems, therapies and clinical trials.
- Radiation Oncology Nursing experience highly desirable – but not essential
- Genuine interest in cancer care nursing and professional development within this space.
- Available for shifts that fall between 7am - 9pm, Monday - Friday
- Current AHPRA Nursing registration.
- Ability to apply excellent communication and problem solving skills with both patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment whilst maintaining good working relationships.
- Experience documenting patient experiences and relaying patient feedback to Doctors and Nurse Managers.
- Capacity to learn and use multiple clinical administration systems.
- Commitment to learning and continual professional development.
