Clinical Nurse - Icon Cancer Centre Townsville, QLD
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse to provide exceptional patient care in our medical oncology/haematology day hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an oncology nurse ready to step into a role with greater clinical responsibility while remaining hands-on in patient care.
About the Role:
Due to an internal promotion we have an opportunity for a permanent Clinical Nurse, up to full-time hours available, to join our team at our Icon Cancer Centre Townsville. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the Clinical Nurse Level 2 plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred oncology care while supporting clinical standards, team capability, and safe service delivery in a day oncology setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver advanced nursing care within scope, including administration of chemotherapy and haematology treatments
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and manage treatment-related side effects
- Act as a clinical resource and role model for less experienced staff
- Participate in quality improvement and clinical governance activities
- Maintain accurate electronic and written clinical documentation
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families
- Demonstrate high level of clinical leadership, teamwork and development of workplace culture
- Facilitate learning, growth and development opportunities for the nursing team
- Actively motivate others and maintain an environment of continuous quality improvement
- Participate in personal role review and professional development opportunities to ensure continuous improvement of self and team

Skills & Experience:
- Current AHPRA registration
- At least 3 years’ experience in oncology nursing
- Demonstrated experience in a high acuity setting
- Post-graduate study desirable but not essential
- Proven ability to provide clinical leadership and mentorship
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Well-developed electronic and clinical documentation skills
