Day Hospital Receptionist– Icon Cancer Centre Southport

About the role:
We have an opportunity for a Medical Receptionist to join our Southport centre day hospital team. You will provide efficient, effective and responsive Day Hospital reception services to Patients, Visiting Medical Officers, Nurses, Medical Secretaries and other contacts ensuring exceptional standards of customer service. Working in a part-time capacity 48hours/fortnight, Monday to Friday within the operating hours. This role will report to the Administration Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Provide compassionate reception support, including phone, messaging and patient admission tasks
- Manage day hospital appointments, coordinating with VMOs, nurses and Medical Secretaries to optimise schedules and resources
- Document patient activity accurately, including waiting times, new patients and new treatments
- Coordinate arrangements such as hospital accommodation, DVA and Queensland Ambulance transport, and combined oncology appointments
- Support team operations through cross training and stepping into other roles when needed
- Administration or Medical Receptionist Qualification
- 12 months relevant professional medical / hospital administration experience requiring current knowledge and understanding of health insurance funds
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Professional, efficient and friendly manner both over-the-phone and face-to-face
- Outstanding team member qualities including willing to support your colleagues and positive attitude
- Experience with Medicare DVA and Private Health.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to complete various administration tasks across Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology units
- Ability to work efficiently with attention to detail
- Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook
