About the opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our cancer centre in Hobart in a unique, specialist role focused on Neuroendocrine Tumours and Rare Cancers.

In collaboration with the McGrath Foundation, Icon Cancer Centre Australia & New Zealand is delighted to announce this newly funded 3-year 0.6FTE position. This position offers the opportunity to shape and deliver a dedicated service for a complex and often under represented patient cohort. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to improved patient outcomes, care coordination and service development.

This is an ideal opportunity for a nurse with strong oncology experience who wants to step into a niche, leadership focused role and make a meaningful impact with the support of the McGrath Foundation.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide specialised clinical care, supportive care and coordination for patients with NET and rare cancers
  • Act as a key point of contact for patients and families across the care continuum
  • Collaborate with oncologists, allied health and wider multidisciplinary teams
  • Lead and contribute to patient education and supportive care initiatives
  • Support development of clinical pathways, protocols and service improvements
  • Participate in quality improvement, audit and research activities
  • Leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice that reflects the McGrath Model of Care
  • The MCCN will ensure specific data required by the Foundation is added to the relevant McGrath Foundation controlled database on a regular and timely basis.
  • The MCCN will attend and actively participate in McGrath Foundation education and events.
About you
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA Nursing Registration – Division 1
  • Demonstrated experience in oncology or haematology nursing
  • Strong clinical assessment and care coordination skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in patient education, advocacy and complex care management
  • Postgraduate qualifications in cancer nursing – oncology/palliative care
  • Minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience as a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years recent full time equivalent experience in Oncology, Palliative Care or Cancer Stream specific Nursing
