Patient Care Assistant – Icon Cancer Centre, Midland WA
  
Are you a caring, organised and practical team player who enjoys supporting patients and clinical teams in a healthcare environment? We are looking for a Patient Care Assistant to play a vital role in ensuring patients receive a safe, comfortable and positive experience.
  
In this Part-Time 12-month Contract position, you will be part of a supportive clinical team, helping keep the day hospital running smoothly through patient support, supply management and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.
  
About the role
As a Patient Care Assistant, you will support the delivery of high‑quality clinical services by:
  • Providing excellent customer service to patients and their families
  • Assisting with patient refreshments and day‑to‑day patient needs
  • Supporting clinical staff through effective organisation and teamwork  
This is a hands‑on role that suits someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of patient dignity and care.
  
Key responsibilities
  • Manage storage, stock control and re‑stocking of clinical and patient supplies
  • Prepare, portion and serve patient refreshments in line with food safety standards
  • Assist with transporting patients within the facility when required
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, including equipment, patient servery areas and bathrooms
  • Support waste management processes
  • Provide basic administrative support, including scanning, filing and use of electronic systems
  • Work collaboratively with nursing and administration teams to meet daily operational needs  
What we are looking for
Essential
  • At least 6 months experience working in a healthcare or similar environment
  • Ability to deliver respectful, compassionate and professional patient care
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage routine tasks effectively
  • Confidence using basic electronic systems such as email, scanners and photocopiers
  • Food handling certificate or willingness to obtain one
Desirable
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a busy clinical setting
