Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure quality and sterility of medication.
- Adhere and prepare formulation in accordance to Good Manufacturing Practice e.g. wearing of Personal Protective Equipment during compounding.
- Perform cytotoxic drug reconstitution using aseptic technique in accordance to procedure.
- Accurately pack and dispense prescriptions in adherence to established standards.
- Provide general administrative support within the Pharmacy team including accurate documentation to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Recognize basic drug regimens and communicate potential interactions to pharmacists.
- Provide basic medication information and counselling to patients.
- Promptly report issues and patient complaints to Pharmacists.
- Manage drug inventory which includes stock replenishment, conducting stock counts and inventory checks.
- Ensure that dispensing consumables are adequately stocked and regularly check stock expiry and condition.
Requirements:
- Equivalent Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution, or certificate of dispensing/relevant certificate from a recognized institution.
- Preferably at least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in Oncology field.
- Experience in a relevant specialist area of pharmacy practice including sterile compounding and handling of antineoplastics.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, process driven environment.
