Hospital and Oncology Pharmacists | St John of God Private Hospital, Geelong




About the Role
Slade Pharmacy is excited to become the new pharmacy services provider to St John of God Private Hospital Geelong in July 2026, and we are now seeking pharmacists to join our new team in full time and part time capacities across both hospital and oncology services.

These permanent positions offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care while working in a supportive and collaborative hospital environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute across inpatient, discharge and specialised oncology settings, with scope to develop your clinical skills within a structured and supportive team.

In this role, you may deliver clinical pharmacy services across general hospital wards and, where appropriate, oncology services including cancer therapies and supportive care. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, accurate and personalised medication management throughout the patient journey.

This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacists at different stages of their careers, from those looking to transition into hospital pharmacy through to experienced oncology pharmacists seeking a specialised clinical environment.

Roster:
The operating hours of Slade Pharmacy at St John of God Private Hospital Geelong will be:
  • Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Saturday 8:00am to 2:00pm
  • Sunday 9:00am to 1:00pm

Start and finish times may vary slightly due to operational requirements. Our pharmacy operates seven days a week, and availability to participate in the weekend roster at least once or twice per month is preferred. Preferences for regular weekend shifts are also welcome.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products
  • Conduct medication chart reviews and medication reconciliation
  • Coordinate patient medication requirements for inpatient stay and discharge
  • Deliver clinical pharmacy services including patient counselling and education
  • Support oncology services including chemotherapy and cancer care where trained
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses and the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
  • Provide education and advice on medication use, disease prevention and health promotion
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and contribute to service excellence

About You
We are seeking passionate and adaptable pharmacists who are committed to delivering patient focused care and thrive in a collaborative hospital environment.
  
Key Requirements:
  • Current AHPRA General Registration as a Pharmacist
  • Experience in hospital, community or oncology pharmacy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safe medication management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
Desirable:
  • Experience in oncology pharmacy or interest in developing in this area
  • Experience in an Australian or New Zealand hospital pharmacy environment
