Quality Pharmacist (Cancer Care / Oncology Management Systems) - Icon Group, AU


  • Expression of interest for an experienced cancer care pharmacist to join the Quality and Medication Safety Unit (QMSU) for a 12-month period.
  • Part-time opportunity (3 days/week) to support the St John of God (SJOG) Slade Pharmacy implementation and optimisation of the CHARM Oncology Information Management System across multiple databases.
  • Open to candidates based anywhere in Australia.  Hybrid and remote working are supported, with occasional travel as required.

The Opportunity
This exciting part-time opportunity is available for an experienced cancer care pharmacist to join the cancer care portfolio within the Quality and Medication Safety Unit, working as part of the Cancer Therapy Prescribing Systems (CTPS) team as a system administrator across multiple CHARM databases.

Reporting to the Lead Quality Pharmacist – Cancer Services, you will play a key role in supporting the SJOG pharmacy implementation and optimising the use of CHARM databases across Icon Cancer Centres and other organisations within Icon.

This role is ideal for a pharmacist with a strong cancer care background who is passionate about clinical governance, system optimisation and improving the safety and efficiency of cancer care delivery.  You will bring a strong work ethic, effective communication skills, and a commitment to collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
  
Key Responsibilities
System Management & Optimisation
  • Support the configuration, maintenance and optimisation of the CHARM databases across multiple facilities and organisations.
  • Support protocol governance processes, including pathway review, approval workflows, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Apply independent clinical judgement to cancer treatment protocol review and pathway development within CHARM.
  • Support scheduler builds and site-specific workflow configuration to enhance day hospital efficiency.
  • Monitor system use to ensure alignment with best practice and organisational standards.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to support safe and effective use of CHARM.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
Training, Education & Support
  • Develop, review, and deliver CHARM training for pharmacy, nursing, medical, and administrative users.
  • Provide end-user support, troubleshooting, and guidance across multiple databases.
  • Develop training materials and support resources to enable sustainable site-based capability.
SJOG Implementation Support
  • Provide dedicated support and workflow development for cancer pharmacy services as part of the SJOG Slade Pharmacy implementation.
  • Assist with implementation planning, system testing, and go-live support for SJOG Charm Evolution.

QMSU
The Quality and Medication Safety Unit is responsible for providing clinical governance and guidance to support best practice, legislative compliance, and the quality use of medicines across Slade Pharmacy.

The QMSU supports pharmacy services through audit and compliance programs, cancer service support, medicines stewardship, and the development of education and training resources to ensure safe, effective, and standardised patient care.

About You
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualities: 
  • Have extensive oncology & haematology pharmacy experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to manage competing priorities and work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Be passionate about clinical governance, system optimisation and patient safety.
  • Be willing to travel to sites as required to support implementation and training.
  • Have experience using CHARM as an end-user or system administrator (highly desirable).
  
Essential Requirements
  • Registered pharmacist with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience in cancer care pharmacy (medical oncology/haematology).
  • Experience with oncology prescribing systems (CHARM highly desirable).
  • Experience in protocol development, review, or governance (desirable)
