Radiation Oncology Billing Officer (Fixed Term Contract)

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Radiation Oncology Billing Officer to join our team on a fixed-term basis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes while supporting patients and clinicians across radiation oncology services.
This is initially a full-time position for 7 months, with a planned transition to a part-time arrangement of three days per week from late March 2027. This is a 100% remote position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end billing processes for radiation oncology services
- Prepare and submit Medicare, DVA and private health fund claims
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of patient billing records
- Process invoices, payments and account reconciliations
- Respond to billing enquiries from patients, clinicians and external stakeholders
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure compliance with billing requirements and policies
- Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up as required
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicare billing rules and health fund requirements
- Demonstrated experience in medical billing, preferably within oncology, radiology or specialist healthcare
- Strong understanding of Medicare, private health insurance and billing compliance requirements
- High attention to detail and ability to manage complex billing information accurately
- Excellent communication skills with a supportive and patient-focused approach
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Proficient in billing systems and Microsoft Office applications
