About the Role
A unique full-time max term contract opportunity until January 2028 has become available at Slade Pharmacy, located at Epworth Private Hospital Richmond. This role offers an exciting chance to step into a senior oncology position within a well-established and highly regarded oncology pharmacy service.
As the Senior Oncology Pharmacist, you will oversee the care of day oncology patients and medical oncology inpatients, including haematology patients, working closely with the broader multidisciplinary oncology team. You will be primarily based in the Day Infusion Centre as one of two pharmacists embedded within the unit and will work collaboratively with clinical pharmacists across inpatient oncology and paediatric wards to coordinate comprehensive patient care at Epworth Richmond.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of the Chemotherapy in the Home service, supporting the ongoing growth and innovation of oncology services. Working alongside oncology technicians, clinical trials staff, and compounding teams, you will deliver exceptional patient care in a fast paced and highly specialised environment.
This role presents an excellent opportunity to continue to provide your expertise in advanced oncology services while providing senior mentorship and leadership to an expanding oncology team. Experience in an oncology setting is essential, and while training will be provided, a strong interest in oncology and a passion for continued learning are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Using ARIA, coordinate and organise the supply of chemotherapy for day oncology unit patients and inpatients
- Participate in clinical screening of cancer care medication orders
- Perform medication chart reviews and medication reconciliation
- Provide mentorship, leadership, and guidance to the broader oncology pharmacy team
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders to ensure excellent service delivery
- Dispense and supply medications and pharmacy products
- Educate and counsel staff, patients, and allied health professionals
About You
- Registered Pharmacist with Australian based pharmacy experience
- Advanced hospital pharmacy experience with demonstrated clinical oncology skills
- Sound knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice aligned with AdPha Guidelines
- Strong commitment to patient focused care and high professional standards
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and maintain a high level of organisation
- Demonstrated capability to lead, support, and develop pharmacy team members
- Experience contributing to quality improvement and change initiatives
- Well-developed communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, education, and peer review
- Understanding of PBS and chemotherapy funding models in Australia
Desirable
- Oncology and or Haematology experience in a day unit or hospital setting
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications such as Master of Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- Strong capability with hospital pharmacy and clinical information systems
