Erin McLennan

Icon Group’s 2022 Middleton Scholar

Evolving cancer care coordination to improve patient outcomes

Erin is one of the inaugural Cancer Care Coordinators (CCC) at Icon and has played an integral role in the development of the CCC service and its continued evolution to consistently meet the needs of patients.

“I believe the Middleton Scholarship will help me achieve my goals of being part of the global cancer care conversation and embracing opportunities to build my knowledge base, expand my experiences, and develop myself both professionally and personally.” Erin said.

“This scholarship provides the opportunity to combine my clinical experience and leadership skills to directly improve patient outcomes.”

She has worked exclusively in cancer care for nine years and has a particular interest and passion for our older patient cohort. In addition to her CCC role, she is a member of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia’s Older Persons with Cancer Specialist Network Committee. The committee meets monthly to discuss the unique challenges that older people with cancer face and what our priorities as clinicians should be to improve outcomes for this patient group.

In her role at Icon, Erin is acutely aware of the challenges patients face during their treatment journey, beyond their disease and treatment side effects. Each day she strives to provide the very best holistic care and addresses these challenges in partnership with patients.

From across the scope of psychological and financial struggles, to allied health needs and preparing for end-of-life care, she supports our patients every step of the way.
