At Icon Oncology Group, clinical trials are delivered through the Icon Cancer Centre (ICC) global network and play an important role in advancing cancer care.
Through ICC, patients and clinicians have access to national and international clinical trials across medical oncology, haematology and radiation oncology, as well as unique Investigator-Initiated trials. We are proud to operate the largest Phase I clinical trials program and continue to lead the way in providing first in-human trials helping to evolve the future of cancer treatments.
World-leading research
In 2024, ICC became the first Australian cancer centre network to achieve internationally recognised accreditation for both clinical research site quality and workforce excellence.
In 2026, we advanced this achievement through renewed certification and Gold-level accreditation for workforce excellence, reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality clinical research and better outcomes for patients.
Clinical trials at Icon Cancer Centre
Across the ICC network, the team works with over 200 collaborators including Contract Research Organisations (CROs), commercial and non-commercial organisations (including hospitals and universities), industry vendors and service providers.
The program delivers Phase I to Phase IV clinical trials sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry and collaborative groups, as well as in-house investigator-initiated trials across our multidisciplinary clinical team, clinical registries, compounding, physics and dosimetric research.
ICC’s growing research footprint comprises over 90 principal investigators working across 20 cancer centres in Australia, with a comprehensive workforce of experienced researchers and administrative team members who support clinicians and the delivery of clinical trials across several locations.
This mature team structure allows our research network to deliver a strong clinical trials program and apply that same model of quality and governance to our networks in Asia and New Zealand. As the ICC network across the UK and Europe continues to develop, the team looks forward to building research partnerships and capability in these regions.
Our internationally-recognised clinical trials conform to the ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, Good Clinical Practice and all applicable national and international clinical trial guidelines.
Research is in ICC’s DNA and is an integral part of the care provided to patients. The team continues to expand its trials and research offering across all facets of the business to improve patient outcomes and reduce the global cancer burden.
