International Hospital Federation
In early 2024 Icon Group became a Premier Associate Member of the International Hospital Federation (IHF). Established in 1929 and headquarted in Geneva, Switzerland, IHF is the only international membership body for the leaders and managers of hospital and health systems. The IHF is a global not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation. IHF bring together members to share knowledge, strengthening the work of member and provide opportunities for exchange, development and collaboration. IHF members are part of a community of over 25,000 hospitals shaping the future of healthcare around the world.
In 2025 Icon extended our partnership with IHF becoming a collaborative sponsor of the Women in Leadership Special Interest Group (SIG) supporting women in leadership roles across the healthcare sector.
Varian Medical Systems
In 2016, Icon Group announced the largest confirmed order in Australian history for world leading radiation therapy technology, confirming an investment in excess of $50 million USD for ten TrueBeam linear accelerators and all associated software and services with Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, California. Varian is the world’s leading manufacturer of medical devices and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiation.
Two years later, Icon and Varian marked another important milestone when Icon became the first in Australia to offer Varian HyperArc™. This advanced, fully-automated technology system enables clinicians to precisely target multiple tumours within the brain with high doses of radiation therapy while ensuring limited doses to surrounding healthy brain tissue.
In late 2019, Icon became the first in the Southern Hemisphere to introduce Varian’s Ethos therapy. Ethos therapy is an innovative new solution designed to deliver customised and optimised radiation treatment for patients. What this means is every radiation treatment adapts to changes in the patient’s internal or external anatomy, taking pinpoint precise radiation to a new level. This is complemented by Icon’s role as a member of the Varian Adaptive Intelligence Consortium, working alongside other peak international bodies to develop clinical and technical aspects of Ethos technology and wider radiation therapy treatments.
Omico
Icon Cancer Centre partners with Omico, a not-for-profit organisation accelerating access to precision oncology trials. The partnership aims to advance cancer care by making precision oncology more accessible in routine practice. It provides Australians living with challenging cancers access to free comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP), opening the door to life-extending, personalised treatments that may otherwise remain unexplored.
World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD)
Icon Group is proud to support World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD), a global campaign focused on raising awareness of radiotherapy and improving access to treatment worldwide. Held annually on 7 September, WRAD commemorates the first patient treated with a linear accelerator, a milestone that transformed cancer care and paved the way for modern radiotherapy.
Today, radiotherapy is a proven and effective form of cancer treatment, recommended for 50-70% of cancer patients worldwide, and plays a critical role in curing cancer, controlling disease, relieving symptoms and improving quality of life. As a leading provider of cancer care, Icon is committed to advancing innovation, supporting the radiotherapy workforce, and helping more patients access world-class treatment closer to home.

Radformation
In 2025 Icon Group signed a Centre of Excellence Agreement with Radformation, a leading provider of automation software for radiotherapy. This strategic partnership demonstrates our commitment to advancing cancer care through technology and innovation. It sees Icon collaborate on Radformation product testing, case studies and research, and early adoption of AI driven tools to achieve efficiencies and better patient outcomes.
