Radiation Oncologist - Cairns About the Role:
The Icon Group is seeking to appoint an additional full-time Radiation Oncologist to join our Cairns team. The key focus of this position will be to provide exceptional patient care.
Icon Cairns provides cancer treatment for the Cairns and Far North Queensland community, currently treating over 900 courses per year. The site has a strong and cohesive Radiation Oncology team led by three Radiation Oncologists who see a broad mix of patients. There are established local multidisciplinary teams for Breast cancer, Lung cancer, Urological cancer, Colorectal and upper GI cancer, in both the public and private sector. There is also a high risk skin cancer MDT in the public sector and combined MDTs with Townsville hospital for head and neck cancer and lymphoma. We also have close relationships with several Brisbane based MDTs.
Icon partners with Queensland Health through a public private partnership to provide the public radiation oncology service. Private radiation oncology services are also available and there will be scope for involvement in the private sector with this position. The unit is part of the Cairns Hospital and was opened in 2011. The Cancer Care and Haematology service also includes 4 medical oncologists, 4 haematologists and 2 palliative care physicians. It is a well integrated, dynamic unit with a strong focus on high quality patient focused care, research, training and education.
Icon Cairns offers advanced radiotherapy techniques including VMAT, DIBH and SABR. We are part of an extensive network of cancer centres throughout the country and , we have the ability to draw on the experience and knowledge of this network of clinicians to offer quality local radiation treatment. Selection Criteria Mandatory Qualifications:
About the person we're going to hire:
- Current Registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Sub-speciality training in Radiation Oncology holding the Fellowship of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiation Oncologists (RANZCR)
- Compliance as a healthcare provider with credentialing and compliance requirements such as immunisation, insurance etc.
- Icon is committed to providing the highest level of patient care and cancer care services to the community. We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled radiation oncologist who works well in a multidisciplinary team to continue that commitment.
- The successful candidate will be someone who has an ongoing focus on continuing education and research and an interest in teaching others including medical students and radiation oncology PHO/Registrars. We are looking for someone who will uphold the high performance culture that is in alignment with the vision and values of the Icon Group.
