An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join the medical physics service at Icon Cancer Centre Richmond. Equipment at Richmond includes two Varian linear accelerators (Novalis Tx and Trilogy), Brainlab iPlan/Elements and Eclipse Treatment Planning Systems, Mobius 3D dose verification software and ARIA oncology information system. Treatment services include Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRS, SBRT, SRS Cones), Deep Inspiration Breath-hold (Breast) and Calypso Extracranial tracking (Prostate). The Medical Physicist will also assist in providing medical physics support services at our nearby Freemasons (East Melbourne) centre (Varian Silhouette), as well as the larger national Icon network. This is a full-time permanent role that reports to the Site Senior Medical Physicist and the Regional Lead Physicist. The Medical Physics group within Icon works collaboratively as national team. Opportunities exist for persons to be involved in national projects and travel to sites within our network. The successful applicant will be highly motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and will be expected to take on an integral role in the operation of day-to-day medical physics activities. They may be expected to offer occasional assistance across all current and future radiotherapy centres. You will also be involved in the development and implementation of new technologies. A demonstrated ability to perform at a high level in a strong multi-disciplinary environment is essential. Essential Criteria:
- Eligible for listing on the ACPSEM register of qualified medical physics specialists in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics. Newly completed TEAP registrars are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to perform routine physics tasks including but not limited to routine equipment quality assurance, patient specific quality assurance (e.g. IMRT/Stereo) and treatment planning support
- Evidence of contributing to/participating in in-house research and development projects
- Proven ability to work independently to a high level of scientific achievement
- Demonstrated high levels of communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience as a qualified physicist in an advanced radiotherapy department would be advantageous
- Capable of self-directed work and possessing excellent problem-solving skills.
