Over the past year, we’ve extended our footprint into Europe and continued to enhance our clinical capabilities with the introduction of cutting-edge precision medicine and radiation therapy technologies, including CyberKnife, Gamma Knife, and Theranostics, alongside the continued expansion of our leading stereotactic radiation therapy network.

To support this evolution, we’re pleased to announce the appointment of A/Professor Matthew Foote to the newly created role of Deputy Chief Medical Officer.

Matt brings extensive expertise in complex and highly specialised cancer care technologies. His board positions, leadership and contributions to organisations such as the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS) have been instrumental in advancing Icon’s global presence.

In this strategic role, Matt will play a pivotal part in driving technological innovation, shaping clinical strategies, and ensuring the highest standards of governance. His appointment reflects Icon’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of cancer treatment through excellence in patient care and state-of-the-art technology.

Group Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ian Irving said this is an exciting step in Icon’s medical leadership.

“Matt is a highly respected clinician with exceptional experience in specialised treatments. His deep understanding of new innovations is what makes the best possible patient care,” said Ian.

“He exemplifies our clinician-led, patient-centred organisation and will no doubt drive our ability to deliver more care, to more people.”

Alongside his new responsibilities, Matt will continue his clinical practice at Icon Cancer Centre Greenslopes and Icon Cancer Centre Noosa, as well as his public appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
