Icon Cancer Centre Singapore has been recognised with a prestigious win at the Austcham Business Excellence Awards taking out the Business Excellence Award of the Year.

The awards celebrate companies making a significant commitment to Singapore and the region while achieving excellence in their industry. This recognition underscores Icon’s significant contributions to cancer care in Singapore and the region, reflecting our dedication to providing world-class cancer treatment and fostering strong international connections.

Commitment to care

This award is testament to our incredible team who deliver exceptional care to our patients every day, putting our patients in the centre of everything they do,” said Serena Wee, Icon ASEAN CEO.

“We have built strong relationships with governments, hospital and industry partners which has enabled us bring more care to more communities in the region; thank you Austcham for this award.”

Icon Singapore was also nominated as a finalist for the evening’s Purpose and Impact Award, commending companies who showcased diversity, equity and inclusivity.

Expanding presence in Singapore

Since entering the Singaporean market in 2016, through the acquisition of Singapore Oncology Consultants, Icon has significantly expanded its footprint and strengthened its presence.

What began as four centres has grown to seven cancer centres and the upcoming launch of an eighth centre, focused on paediatric oncology. This strategic growth not only showcases Icon’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality cancer care but also highlights its contribution and impact on cancer care in the region.

Partnerships and regional growth

Icon Singapore has expanded its services into regional markets in 2024. Notable initiatives include a newly established centre at Island Hospital in Penang, Malaysia with our strategic partners, Sunsuria Healthcare and collaborative relationships with hospital partners in Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia to provide shared cancer care.

This regional collaborative approach allows Icon to extend its model of high-quality care and expertise to a broader patient base while nurturing cross-border healthcare partnerships.

Growth in clinical expertise

A key aspect of Icon’s success in the region is robust growth in clinical expertise and workforce. From an initial team of approximately 60 employees in 2016, Icon Singapore now has more than 140 team members. Icon Singapore’s oncologists, haematologists and health screening physician team has grown from seven to 18, further supported by over 80 visiting surgeons and physicians to deliver holistic, multidisciplinary care.
