As Group Director of Medical Physics Anthony is responsible for the operational management of Icon’s global radiation oncology medical physics team, which includes over 50 medical physicists across five countries. He has a focus on delivering effective leadership and governance to ensure radiation safety is met across multiple regions and maintains strong industry partnerships to support the effective implementation of new technology and treatments within Icon’s cancer centres.
Anthony has strong clinical experience having worked in both the United Kingdom and Australia including Oxford University Hospitals Trust in the UK, and Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth. Anthony started his career at Icon as Lead Physicist for the new Icon Cancer Centre at Springfield, Queensland. As sole physicist he was responsible for day-to-day operations of all physics services including commissioning, quality assurance, audits and implementation of new technology. In 2019, Anthony became Regional Medical Physics Lead for Queensland, later taking on the newly created role of Assistant Group Director of Medical Physics across Icon’s global network in 2022.
In his current leadership role, Anthony provides strong links between Icon’s medical physics teams and the radiation therapist and research teams to foster collaboration, training opportunities and initiate research projects, ensuring Icon’s clinical teams are at the forefront of cancer care.
Anthony chairs Icon’s Group Radiation Therapy Practice Unit (RPU) who oversee the clinical governance for radiation oncology and takes responsibility for all radiation safety aspects across the group. He is also dedicated to upskilling the medical physics workforce and nurturing the next generation of physicists to deliver exceptional patient care.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from University Exeter and Master of Science, Medical Physics from University of Manchester.
