Icon is proud to share that Group CEO Mark Middleton OAM has been awarded the 2025 Australian Healthcare Executive of the Year, presented by The CEO Magazine, and Runner-Up in the overall CEO of the Year Award.

The awards recognise and celebrate innovative and impactful leaders across Australia industries.

Bringing world-class care closer to home

Mark was recognised for his leadership of Icon in pursuit of its mission to bring the best care possible to more people, closer to home and to help address the growing global cancer burden.

Since Mark became Icon Group CEO in 2015, Icon has expanded its reach from its strong foundation in Australia to the global stage including New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom – becoming a world-leading integrated healthcare provider with a team of more than 3,500 people and a network of over 400 clinicians.

Focused on reshaping the future of cancer care, Mark has been the driving force behind the introduction of Icon’s latest technologies, research and AI adoptions, maintaining strong industry partnerships, and his clinician-led approach has helped attract experienced specialists to Icon’s growing network.

“No matter how much we grow, or where we deliver care – our mission remains at the heart,” said Mark.

“We believe that where you live, should not determine if you live, or the quality of care you receive and that’s why we’re committed to innovating and transforming healthcare so people, their families and communities can access the care they deserve.”

Visionary leadership

Mark credits his award to the collective efforts of the entire Icon network.

“It’s an honour to have been nominated and for our team to be recognised with this award,” Mark said.

“At Icon, our values and mission drive everything we do.

“This recognition is a reflection of every Icon team member and the work they do each day to ensure no one feels alone, and that every person in our care feels supported.

“I couldn’t be prouder to lead this team and see the difference they make in the lives of so many around the world.”

By dissolving geographical barriers and investing in remote training, innovation and collaboration, we’re creating a scalable, sustainable model to address global workforce shortages and meet the growing demand for cancer care.

Icon and its teams congratulate Mark and all the award finalists.
