As we continue to expand and improve our pharmacy operations across Icon Group, we’re pleased to announce the appointment of Kirsty Mullin, General Manager – Pharmacy Services NSW/ACT, as our new Pharmacy Operational Excellence Lead.

This role will see Kirsty leverage her extensive experience across pharmacy leadership and ownership, medication safety and operational management to drive continuous improvement initiatives, streamline processes, and enhance overall operational efficiency across the entire pharmacy division.

Kirsty has been with Slade Pharmacy and Icon Group through some pivotal milestones, and over her 13 years with us, she has held multiple senior positions and successfully overseen the opening and transition of many pharmacy sites, including the largest PBS dispensing pharmacy in Australia – Slade Pharmacy Mount Kuring-Gai, New South Wales.

Kirsty’s strong passion for providing patient-centred care and safety, exceptional leadership, and drive for operational excellence will enable Icon’s pharmacy services bring more care to more people.

Kirsty is an Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Charles Sturt University. She originally started her pharmacy career in community pharmacy, learning the ropes to ensure the safe and effective use of medications. She acquired a passion for clinical pharmacy and creating meaningful contributions to patient outcomes – eventually leading her to a career in hospital pharmacy and with Slade.

When the opportunity arose for leadership, Kirsty jumped at it, taking on the role of Pharmacy State Manager, overseeing multiple pharmacy locations across NSW and helping lead the considerable growth across the state.

A highlight of this role was Kirsty’s pivotal role in the transition of the Mount Kuring-Gai site and the amalgamation of three brands – Slade Pharmacy, McBeath and Fresenius Kabi. Over this time, she also helped acquire new business opportunities and maintained contacts and relationships with existing hospital partners while demonstrating exceptional leadership skills, driving operational efficiency, and fostering a culture of excellence within the pharmacy teams.

In 2022, Kirsty became the General Manager of Pharmacy Services across NSW and ACT, overseeing all aspects of Slade Pharmacy hospital pharmacy and retail operations. Through this role, she successfully managed strategic planning, team leadership, and operational management for all Slade Pharmacies in the area.

Today, Kirsty owns multiple pharmacies across NSW and says she is looking forward to the next chapter in her career.

“This is an exciting time to be part of the group’s pharmacy division as we continue to evolve and lead in the delivery of pharmacy services and management and deliver comprehensive services,” said Kirsty.

“For up-and-coming pharmacists, I would say jump at every opportunity presented to you, it will help you grow.

“Pharmacy is always evolving and it’s a real privilege to be at the forefront of patient care and ensuring we continue to maintain operational excellence to deliver quality services to our partners and patients.”

Kirsty stepped into her new position in January 2024 and her extensive experience and proven track record in operational efficiency will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of Slade Pharmacies across Australia.
