Icon Group (Icon) is pleased to partner with Bali International Hospital (a subsidiary of Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC)) to deliver comprehensive cancer care in their new state-of-the-art hospital.

Set to open in May, this service is the first entry of a foreign oncology provider into Indonesia, enhancing cancer care for the region.

Bali International Hospital is strategically situated within the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where the Ministry of Health has granted special concessions.

This includes allowing foreign doctors and healthcare professionals to practice, and providing access to oncology drugs not yet approved in Indonesia.

This partnership brings together Icon’s in-depth expertise in oncology and IHC’s strength in healthcare and hospital management to provide comprehensive end-to-end cancer care within the SEZ of Bali, Indonesia.

World-class network, latest treatments

Icon’s extensive experience and expertise in oncology includes a global network of more than 350 doctors, over 50 cancer centres and six compounding facilities.

IHC runs one of the largest hospital networks in Indonesia with 38 hospitals across the archipelago including three facilities equipped with end-to-end capabilities. By combining our strengths, we are bringing high-quality cancer care closer to home for patients in Indonesia, ensuring timely and greater access to new evidence-based cancer treatments that are not yet available in Indonesia.

Icon ASEAN CEO, Serena Wee said this collaboration demonstrates Icon’s mission to deliver the best care possible, closer to home.

“We are honoured to be part of this transformative partnership, helping to redefine cancer care in Indonesia,” said Serena.

“For the first time, our doctors will be able to practice within the Sanur SEZ in Bali—a historic achievement for healthcare in this region. This is a unique opportunity that enables us to continue delivering exceptional cancer care and improving local access to high-quality treatments for our patients in Indonesia.”

Addressing the cancer burden

dr Dewi F. Fitriana, President Director of Bali International Hospital, said this marks a significant step forward in the region’s cancer care.

“Cancer is the second leading cause of death among non-communicable diseases in Indonesia, with cases rising each year. More than 65% of cancer diagnoses occur at an advanced stage upon a patient’s first visit to a healthcare facility, highlighting the urgent need for high-quality oncology care,” said dr. Dewi.

“We have invested in the latest cutting-edge cancer treatment technologies and partnerships like Icon to provide our patients with exceptional care.”

Through this collaboration, both Icon and Bali International Hospital reaffirm a shared commitment to provide the world-class cancer care through a multidisciplinary approach. Furthermore, this partnership will support the healthcare transformation plan outlined by the Ministry of Health, driving progress in healthcare especially cancer care for the people of Indonesia.

Partnering for best care possible

Australian Trade and Investment Commissioner, Jakarta, Lauren Adams supports this milestone partnership.

“It’s great to see an Australian healthcare company supporting efforts in Indonesia,” said Lauren.

“Icon has a strong track record of delivering exceptional care across ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand and it’s through these collective capabilities we can turn the dial on cancer here in Indonesia and help bridge the care gap.”

Through this collaboration, Icon also aims to equip and upskill the local care team with the necessary knowledge and resources to provide holistic care and support throughout a patient’s cancer treatment.

Icon Group CEO, Mark Middleton OAM emphasises Icon’s commitment to elevating care.

“This partnership reinforces our commitment to improving access to world-class care in the region,” said Mark.

“Our Singapore and Malaysian doctors are highly experienced and have been caring for patients across Southeast Asia for decades. This venture brings their experience in delivering quality cancer care closer to home for Indonesian locals, extending our ability to help more people access care when and where they need it.”
