Announcing our 2025 Middleton Scholarship Recipient

Icon Writers / 25 Aug, 2025

We’re excited to announce our 2025 Middleton Scholarship recipient, Icon Singapore’s Implementation and Quality Nurse Manager, Annie Nguyen.

Founded by Group CEO, Mark Middleton OAM in 2018, and personally funded by the Middleton family, the scholarship is open to all current Icon Group employees and focuses on providing a tailored professional development experience to nurture talent and provide meaningful opportunities for people across our organisation.

Now in its eighth year, the program has evolved into a highly personalised, career-defining experience designed to build connections, develop professional skills and lead with purpose across borders.

Career shaping

The 2025 Middleton Scholarship is shaped around Annie’s professional interests and goals. Over the coming months, she’ll take part in a bespoke immersion program designed to support her development and drive impact across Icon’s global network.

After a rigorous and competitive application process assessed by an external judging panel (Group CEO, Mark Middleton OAM, PCFA’s Chief of Mission & Head of Research, Prof Jeff Dunn AO and Executive Coach, Belinda Brosnan), Annie’s impressive application was the successful winner.

Annie has over a decade of experience in nursing and specialised oncology. Starting her career with Icon as a staff nurse, she continued to hone her skills and now supports nurses throughout our centres in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. In her current role she is involved in training, implementation of new practices, clinical workflow, overseeing quality initiatives and ensuring the standards of care are maintained across all Icon ASEAN locations.

Dedication to best care possible

Group CEO, Mark Middleton is looking forward to supporting Annie’s scholarship year and reflects on the program’s maturity.

“Annie’s dedication to nursing and her drive to support teams across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia really stood out,” said Mark.

“This scholarship is a great opportunity for shared learning that helps strengthen education and care across our network.

“I’m so proud of Annie and all our scholars who have and continue to make an impact not only to our organisation, but to the broader healthcare community, their colleagues and most importantly, the patients in our care.”

International knowledge exchange

Annie is passionate about supporting nurses to grow their knowledge and skills and sees the scholarship as a chance to strengthen nurse education and empower teams.

She’ll spend time in Icon’s Australian centres to learn more about best practices in patient safety and training and share knowledge across regions to ensure patients no matter where they live receive the best care possible.

“Nursing is such a dynamic field, and I’m excited to learn from different sites and teams,” Annie said.

“Through this scholarship, I hope to contribute to the development of regional education programs within Icon that support onboarding, build leadership capability, and strengthen our nursing teams across Asia.”
