Icon Group is proud to announce that Icon Cancer Centre AUNZ CEO, Paul Fenton, along with Rare Cancers Australia CEO, Christine Cockburn, have won the Advocacy Champion award at the 2025 Health Industry Hub Catalysts for Change Awards.

Held on 16 October at Cockle Bay Wharf in Sydney, the awards ceremony brought leaders and innovators from across the Australian healthcare industry to recognise those who seek to redefine the future of care.

The Advocacy Champion award recognised the partnership between Icon and Rare Cancers Australia, and the work that is being done to ensure that cutting-edge cancer care is not defined by geography, and where the Health Technology Assessment Review lies on the Prime Minister’s agenda.

Icon is committed to partnering with patient advocacy groups like Rare Cancers Australia, to ensure that comprehensive support and care is provided to patients across Australia.

This award highlighted Paul and Christine’s Health Industry Hub podcast “Diagnosing the system, not just the patient: A rare alliance calls for reform” – where through the power of storytelling, the two leaders discussed how they navigate strategic collaborations, commitment to transparency, and accessibility to care. “This award serves as a powerful reminder of the purpose driven, patient-centred care we provide and our commitment to partnering with organisations to help close the cancer care gap,” said Paul.

“We’re proud to be an advocate for change and provide greater support to people in our care.

“A big thank you to Health Industry Hub for these awards and providing a platform for healthcare professionals to be celebrated.”

In addition to Paul and Christine’s achievement, Icon Group’s Executive Manager – Research, Sophie Mepham, was also nominated as a Finalist for the Medical Excellence category.

Sophie is driven by her passion for clinical research trials, combining data with purpose and a patient-centric approach. This nomination recognised her Health Industry Hub podcast “Beyond the protocol: How Icon Group is redefining clinical trials with heart” and the work of our global research team in bringing new and emerging treatments to our patients.

Icon would like to congratulate all the award finalists and winners and congratulate Paul and Sophie on their achievements.
