Icon welcomes Nigel Anderson as Group Director of Radiation Therapy

We’re pleased to welcome Nigel Anderson as Icon’s Group Director of Radiation Therapy.

With more than 15 years of experience in radiation therapy leadership, research, and education, Nigel has a proven track record in advancing clinical service delivery, workforce development, and improving patient outcomes. 

 

Most recently, as Chief Radiation Therapist at Austin Health in Melbourne, including services at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre and Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre, Nigel played a key role in operational development and oversaw several major initiatives, including the enhancement and growth of complex treatment programs such as MR-guided radiotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy and an extensive brachytherapy service. 

He has also held senior positions at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and the Department of Health, Victoria—bringing a broad perspective across both public and private healthcare sectors.

Industry leader  

Nigel brings extensive expertise in workforce planning, development, and quality, and is a passionate advocate for professional growth. He champions a hands-on approach to academia and maintains strong industry partnerships with leading organisations including Monash University, Varian, and the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT). 

Widely published and the recipient of multiple national awards, Including the Varian Award and Fellowship of ASMIRT, Nigel is recognised for his radiotherapy expertise. He serves as a trusted consultant to the International Atomic Energy Agency and as a Board Director of ASMIRT, bringing a unique blend of operational leadership, research insight, global collaboration, and clinical experience to his roles. 

Recognising legacy  

We would like to take this opportunity to wish the outgoing Director of Radiation Therapy, Stephanie Price all the very best as she dedicates her time to her position as Queensland Board Director position at ASMIRT and commitment to promoting radiation therapy.  

Throughout her 15-year tenure, Stephanie has been an invaluable leader and has made an incredible mark on Icon’s history, playing a critical role in many radiation therapy initiatives, including Icon’s Global Agile Radiation Therapy program, delivering an agile radiation therapy workforce for improved operations, and spearheading a number of technical rollouts, as well as delivering training and education to our Singapore team and most recently, Indonesia.
