Lessons in leadership: Improving cancer care for women worldwide

Icon Writers / 10 Aug, 2026

Improving access to timely cancer care remains one of the greatest challenges facing women in many parts of the world.

In a recent International Hospital Federation (IHF) Women in Leadership webinar, Icon Group Director of Nursing, Margie Hjorth, shared how Icon’s Patient Navigation Program is helping address this challenge, drawing on a case study from Rwanda to demonstrate the impact of patient-centred support and care coordination.

Hosted by the IHF Women in Leadership Special Interest Group in partnership with Icon Group, the webinar brought together healthcare leaders from across the globe to share innovative, community-driven approaches to supporting underserved women.

For Icon Group, supporting forums such as the IHF Women in Leadership webinar series is an extension of our commitment to improving cancer care globally.

Sharing practical insights and experiences helps healthcare professionals learn from what works, adapt successful approaches to local communities and improve access to care for those who need it most.

Together, these conversations can help create better outcomes for women affected by cancer around the world.
