Icon Cancer Centre Geelong has proudly provided the latest in radiation therapy technology and techniques close to home in a friendly and supportive environment since opening in 2020. Located on-site at Epworth Geelong Hospital, the centre offers cutting-edge radiation therapy treatment for all cancer types, delivered by an experienced, skilled, and close-knit team who are dedicated to ensuring patients and their loved ones receive support and exceptional care every step of the way. The service is a single-machine service with a Varian Truebeam STx linear accelerator, with HD-MLCs, Identify Surface Guidance system, and ExacTrac imaging. Icon Cancer Centre Geelong facilitates a number of MDT meetings in the region. Like all Icon Cancer Centres, our Geelong site contributes to, and benefits from, the vast array of experts, technical resources, development programs, and opportunity provided by the Icon Cancer Centre network.
Senior RT:
- Support the Charge RT and/or RT Manager in the day-to-day management of a planning or treatment unit
- Effectively prioritise the workload and duties of other RTs on the unit
- Perform quality assurance checks on treatment plans to ensure safe delivery of care
- Act as a technical resource, and support the development of all staff in the unit
- Under the direction of the RT Manager, provide effective leadership and management of planning or treatment.
- Apply highly advanced knowledge and skills to make timely and accurate technical or clinical decisions
- Lead and support Senior RTs to manage their sub-teams within the unit
- Work cooperatively with other leaders in the site to provide a seamless RT service

Skills & Experience:
Senior RT:
- Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in radiation therapy planning and delivery required to perform patient quality assurance checks
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with capacity to lead small teams under guidance
- Demonstrated capacity to develop, implement, monitor, and report on clinical protocols and adherence
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in the provision of high-quality care
- Well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills the inspire the trust and confidence required to lead and manage high performing teams
- High level clinical knowledge, skills, and proficiency obtained through experience, formal education, and/or continuing professional development
- Awareness of HR legislation, including WHS principles
- Demonstrated capacity to identify and implement improvement and innovation
