About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Slade Pharmacy Burnside, located within the highly regarded Burnside Hospital in Toorak Gardens. This is a part-time fixed-term contract until 31 January 2027, offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in a supportive hospital environment.

This role is ideal for pharmacists seeking to build or expand their clinical skillset while maintaining flexibility. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred pharmacy services.

You’ll be responsible for conducting medication chart reviews, providing medication counselling, supporting therapeutic decision-making, and contributing to medication safety initiatives. You’ll also have the opportunity to coordinate chemotherapy supply for day oncology patients using Charm and participate in clinical audits.

Shifts Available:
  • Alternate Tuesdays: 8:00am to 2:30pm (with a 30-minute break)
  • Saturdays: 8:00am to 11:00am OR 9:00am to 12:00pm
  • Sundays: 9:00am to 12:00pm

We’re seeking pharmacists who are available for 3-hour morning shifts on weekends and/or alternate Tuesdays. These shifts offer the same responsibilities and development opportunities as our permanent positions, with the added benefit of gaining diverse experience across clinical specialties in a flexible format.

Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will:
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to allocated wards, including medication chart reviews, reconciliation, and documentation of allergies and adverse drug reactions.
  • Provide timely, evidence-based advice to medical, nursing, and allied health staff on the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Counsel patients and carers to ensure understanding of prescribed therapies and promote medication adherence.
  • Support the safe and ethical use of medicines, including investigational and compassionate supply medications.
  • Identify and resolve medication-related problems in collaboration with prescribers.
  • Contribute to medication safety initiatives, quality improvement projects, and audits.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of pharmacy interns, students, and technicians.
  • Maintain clinical knowledge through ongoing education, training, and participation in professional development activities. Dispense and supply medication and pharmacy products, including clinical trials
  • Using Charm, coordinate and organise the supply of chemotherapy for the day oncology unit patients

About You
You’re a motivated and collaborative pharmacist who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Whether you’re an experienced hospital pharmacist or transitioning from community pharmacy, you’re eager to grow your clinical skills in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Essential Requirements:
  • General registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Previous experience dispensing medication in an Australian or New Zealand based community or hospital pharmacy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to prioritise workload, manage time effectively and work independently
  • Commitment to the quality use of medicines and evidence-based practice
  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development

Desirable:
  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting
  • Familiarity with PBS, SAS, MAP, DVA or other funding schemes
  • Experience mentoring or supervising pharmacy interns or students
  • Involvement in quality improvement initiatives, audits or clinical trials
  • Membership with professional bodies such as AdPha, COSA, or ISOPP
