The opportunity:
We are currently looking for a full-time pharmacist to join our oncology team at Icon Pharmacy, located at Icon Cancer Centre Wesley in Auchenflower. Under the guidance of our existing team you will undertake training in the area of oncology and work collaboratively with the broader clinical team to deliver optimum patient-centred care and comprehensive quality pharmacy services to our patients at Icon Cancer Centre Wesley.

If you’re a community or hospital pharmacist wanting an opportunity to grow your experience and further your career in oncology, then this the opportunity for you. Hospital experience not required as structured training will be provided for the successful candidate.

In this role, you’ll:

• Develop and apply clinical knowledge in the speciality of oncology
• Apply your existing pharmacist skills in prescription checking, dispensing, and patient education
• Conduct medication history reviews, clinical checks of chemotherapy treatment plans and discharge summaries at transfers of care
• Educate and advise staff and counsel patients on chemotherapy treatments
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service to clients and patients
• Ensure compliance with legislation and contractual obligations
• Participate in the provision of clinical trials
• Be willing to train in aseptic compounding

The pharmacy operates from 7:00am – 5:00pm weekdays, with varying start/finish times during those times. Once fully trained there is an expectation that the successful applicant will take part in an on call roster and public holiday cover.
