About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to join Icon’s dynamic Medical Physics team and lead the Medical Physics service at Icon Cancer Centre Greenslopes and Redland, working full-time covering a 12-month period.
  
Icon Group operates 15 state-of-the-art radiotherapy centres in southeast Queensland. This role will focus on leading physics services at our Greenslopes and Redland campuses. Icon Cancer Centre Greenslopes and Redland includes two Varian TrueBeams and an Ethos linear accelerator, equipped with Identify surface guidance and BrainLab ExacTrac system, Siemens Go.Sim CT scanner and Esteya superficial x-ray unit.  Icon Cancer Centres operate in a paperless environment utilising networked Eclipse Treatment Planning System, and Aria oncology information system.
  
Our Queensland network includes Varian TrueBeam, Halcyon, and Clinac linear accelerators and Leksell Gamma Knife. Treatment service offers cranial and extracranial stereotactic radiotherapy, including Varian HyperArc, advanced motion management packages, SGRT based treatments, as well as standard techniques including DIBH Breast, and VMAT/IMRT. We employ a range of modern software to aid in automation and efficiency including Mobius 3D, RadMachine, and AutoContour.  You’ll have access to a comprehensive suite of QA equipment and collaborate with our national physics team via Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  
As Lead Medical Physicist, you’ll work closely with the Regional Medical Physics Manager and Group Director of Medical Physics to deliver high-quality physics support across Icon Cancer Centres. You may also manage a key area of responsibility within our national physics group.

About You
You’re a motivated, positive professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for innovation. In this role, you’ll oversee day-to-day physics operations, support new technology implementation, and occasionally assist other centres across the network. Success requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.
  
Essential Criteria
  • Eligible for ACPSEM register listing in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics (or equivalent overseas accreditation – UK, USA, Canada encouraged to apply)
  • Experience with stereotactic treatments, ideally using Varian equipment
  • Proficiency in routine physics tasks, including QA and treatment planning support
  • Evidence of involvement in research and development projects
  • Ability to work independently and achieve high scientific standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum five years’ clinical experience in advanced radiotherapy
  • Experience implementing specialty equipment or programs
  • Proven leadership and resource management capability
