The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at Slade Pharmacy, Mount Kuring-Gai, on a full-time 12-month contract with genuine potential to transition into a permanent role. This role offers an exciting pathway to gain specialised clinical experience and is perfect for Community Pharmacists eager to transition into Clinical Pharmacy or Hospital Pharmacists looking to specialise in Oncology pharmacy.
Located in the scenic outer suburbs of Northern Sydney, this weekday-only position allows you to avoid inner-city congestion while contributing to life-changing cancer care services.
About the Role
As an Oncology Pharmacist, you will play a pivotal role in providing remote oncology services to patients at public hospital outpatient clinics across New South Wales. Both large metropolitan hospitals and far-flung outreach clinics without an on-site pharmacist will rely on your expertise to ensure patients receive appropriate chemotherapy and any supportive medications required at the right time and place.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and organise the supply of cancer therapy for hospital inpatients and day oncology unit patients.
- Develop and utilise your clinical skills to improve the outcome for cancer patients.
- Perform medication chart reviews and medication reconciliation.
- Record clinical interventions.
- Build relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Educate and counsel staff, patients and allied health professionals.
Shift Details
Monday to Friday, with alternating weekly shifts:
- Week 1: 10:00 am–6:00 pm
- Week 2: 11:00 am–7:00 pm
About You
Experienced Community looking to transition into Clinical Pharmacy, and Hospital Pharmacists keen to specialise in Cancer Care are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Registered Pharmacist with current AHPRA registration
- Minimum experience:
- o Community Pharmacist – at least 2 years’ experience in a Pharmacist role.
- o Hospital Pharmacist – at least 1 years’ experience in a Pharmacist role.
- Australian working rights.
Prior Oncology experience will be well-regarded but not mandatory as full training will be provided!
