Oncology Pharmacist | Slade Pharmacy, St John of God Private Hospital, Geelong




About the Role
Slade Pharmacy is excited to become the new pharmacy services provider to St John of God Private Hospital Geelong in July 2026, and we are now seeking experienced Oncology Pharmacists to join our new team in both full time and part time capacities.

These permanent positions offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on cancer care while working within a supportive, collaborative and highly specialised clinical environment. You will be part of a strong national oncology pharmacy network across Slade and Icon Group, supported by expert peers, established governance frameworks and extensive clinical resources.

In this role, you will deliver advanced oncology pharmacy services across inpatient and treatment settings. You will work closely with Oncologists, Haematologists, Nurses, Technicians and the broader multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe, accurate and personalised management of cancer therapies. Your expertise will directly support treatment outcomes and the patient experience throughout their cancer journey.

This is an outstanding opportunity for Grade 2 or Grade 3 Oncology Pharmacists (depending on experience) seeking a rewarding clinical environment within a growing national organisation dedicated to expanding access to high quality cancer care.

Roster:
The operating hours of Slade Pharmacy at St John of God Private Hospital Geelong will be:
  • Monday to Friday 8.00am to 6.00pm
  • Saturday 8.00am to 2.00pm
  • Sunday 9.00am to 1.00pm

Start and finish times may vary slightly according to operational needs. Availability to participate in the weekend roster at least once or twice per month is preferred. Preferences for regular weekend shifts are also welcome.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high level clinical pharmacy services in oncology including medication review, treatment verification, medication reconciliation, patient counselling and ongoing treatment support.
  • Coordinate medication requirements for inpatient oncology care and discharge planning.
  • Apply advanced clinical judgement to complex cancer treatment protocols and supportive care regimens.
  • Collaborate with Oncologists, Nurses and the broader multidisciplinary team to support safe and evidence based cancer care.
  • Provide expert advice on chemotherapy protocols, targeted therapies and supportive medications.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and research within the oncology setting.
  • Support the coordination of clinical trial services where applicable.

About You
We are seeking passionate, skilled and adaptable Oncology Pharmacists who are committed to delivering modern, patient focused cancer care within a collaborative hospital environment.

Key Requirements:
  • Current AHPRA General Registration as a Pharmacist.
  • Experience in oncology pharmacy within a hospital or cancer care setting.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, attention to detail and commitment to safe medication management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and patients.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous learning, improvement and professional growth.
Desirable:
  • Experience in an Australian or New Zealand hospital pharmacy environment.
  • Experience supporting clinical trials or advanced oncology protocols.
