About the Role
We’re seeking a passionate and customer-focused Pharmacy Assistant and Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and collaborative team at Slade Pharmacy, Victoria Parade, located within Epworth Freemasons Hospital in East Melbourne. This is a permanent full-time opportunity offering a unique blend of hospital and retail pharmacy experience in a dynamic healthcare setting.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Pharmacist-in-Charge and a tight-knit team to deliver high-quality pharmacy services across maternity, IVF, and day procedure units. You’ll be involved in dispensing medications, managing ward stock, supporting patient discharges, and providing personalised service to patients, carers, and hospital staff.

Our pharmacy features a beautiful front-of-shop open to the public and is just a short tram ride from Melbourne’s vibrant city attractions. You’ll receive hands-on training and ongoing support to help you grow your skills, with opportunities to explore hospital services and compounding. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with receiving, dispensing and supply of medications for hospital inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Support daily documentation of medication dispensing and patient visits
  • Assist in processing and maintaining imprest levels, and managing hospital ward stock
  • Reconcile and manage prescriptions and patient medication discharge profiles
  • Provide support to patients, carers and hospital staff
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff, nurses, and community health workers to support treatment adherence.
  • Assist with retail ordering and reconciliation
  • Assist with S2/S3 sales
  • Process PBS claims and assist in producing medication profiles to hospital patients on discharge
  • Confidently complete administrative and record keeping duties
  • Assist with patient account enquiries
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dispensing area and pharmacy area.

About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about joining our team and delivering modern, patient-focused pharmacy services.

Key Requirements:
  • Previous experience in an Australian community or hospital pharmacy (essential)
  • Familiarity with dispensing medication and FRED Dispense (preferred)
  • Understanding of PBS and S2/S3 medications (preferred)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable, with a commitment to learning and embracing change
  • Attention to detail and a genuine drive to positively impact patient health
  • Passion for building relationships and delivering personalised care
