Although Radiation Oncology / Medical Oncology experience is highly favourable, we encourage applicants with experience/skills in high acuity settings, immunocompromised patient care, wound management and palliative care.
About the role:
In this Registered Nurse role, you will provide high‑quality nursing care to patients undergoing Radiotherapy, reporting directly to the Nurse Manager. You will be responsible for clinically assessing patients, reviewing and implementing individualised care plans, and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
This role offers a high level of autonomy while being part of a close‑knit, supportive multidisciplinary team. It is a highly rewarding opportunity that allows you to build strong, trusting relationships with patients over the course of their care.
Registered Nurses at Icon play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient-centred care. This includes assessing and managing physical side effects, providing patient education, offering emotional support, and facilitating referrals to allied health services as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of patient centred radiation oncology cancer care to our patients and their families, ensuring an empathetic approach to patients needs are met in a timely manner.
- Monitor and treat patients for illness and side effects.
- Maintain standards by ensuring best practice protocols and clinical guidelines are implemented and followed.
- Contribute expert advice and demonstrate contemporary nursing knowledge and skill in oncology nursing practice in accordance with current legislation and professional standards and codes of practice
- Support the Nurse Manager in the day-to-day operations
- Support implementation of new systems, therapies and clinical trials.
- Radiation Oncology Nursing experience highly desirable – but not essential
- Genuine interest in cancer care nursing and professional development within this space.
- Current AHPRA Nursing registration.
- Ability to apply excellent communication and problem-solving skills with both patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining good working relationships.
- Experience documenting patient experiences and relaying patient feedback to Doctors and Nurse Managers.
- Capacity to learn and use multiple clinical administration systems.
- Commitment to learning and continual professional development.
