Dr Kechagioglou is an experienced Clinical Oncologist who practises at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.

Penny brings a wealth of experience to her leadership role at Icon and has held varied positions across medical and clinical leadership, strategy, governance, digital transformation, research and innovation. She has experience across both the public, private and voluntary sectors, including varied senior leadership roles in the UK NHS. She has a strong interest in organisational transformation and a deep understanding of the complexities of integrated care systems.

She graduated from Cardiff University with Honours in 2003 and obtained the Certificate of Completion of Training in Clinical Oncology in 2010. She proceeded to further studies in Public Health (MSc Public Health/Health Management), Business Administration (MBA), Doctorate in Business (Warwick Business School) and Digital Health (PGDip Imperial College).

Penny is the author of two books on leadership in healthcare and several book chapters as well as peer-reviewed papers; she is an active blogger in various healthcare journals, co-hosts the CancerTalk podcast and presents regularly in national and international conferences.

She advises the WHO Academy for lifelong learning in health and is a specialist advisor for the CQC and healthcare ombudsman. She also chairs the National Centre for Integrative Oncology charity and has served as a board trustee member for two cancer charities.

In her role as Chief Medical Officer for the UK, Penny helps drive the strategic vision of Icon’s presence in the UK and oversees clinical governance and direction, medical leadership development and growth, and the implementation of Icon’s innovative care models in the region to ensure we deliver the best care possible.
