Paul Fenton has served as CEO of Icon Cancer Centre Australia and New Zealand since 2020, leading the network through a period of strategic growth and transformation. During this time, he has overseen the expansion of Icon’s Australian footprint to meet rising demand for cancer care, with a deliberate focus on improving equity of access for patients in regional and outer metropolitan communities. Under his leadership, more than 12 new centres have been established across Australia and New Zealand, supporting Icon’s mission to deliver the best possible care, closer to home.
Paul is responsible for driving new business opportunities, enhancing operational performance, and embedding a culture of leadership and sustainable clinical excellence across the division. He brings a deep understanding of the public, private, and not-for-profit healthcare sectors, grounded in over two decades of experience.
A qualified radiation therapist, Paul combines strategic executive leadership with firsthand clinical expertise. He spent nearly 14 years at Barwon Health in Geelong before taking on a leadership role with Austin Health’s Ballarat service. He then established and led Epworth Radiation Oncology as Director of Operations, overseeing clinical and operational performance across key metropolitan centres, while expanding regional access, including securing the public contract to deliver cancer services in Warrnambool. Paul joined Icon Group in 2016 as State Manager for South-East Australia following the acquisition of Epworth Radiation Oncology.
He is a strong advocate for partnerships in healthcare, with demonstrated experience working alongside patient advocacy groups, government, and both public and private providers to improve care pathways, expand access, and build sustainable cancer care services.
Paul’s vision is to ensure every patient, no matter where they live, can access world-class cancer treatment. He is committed to building a network that delivers exceptional care, puts patients first, and creates a lasting impact in the communities it serves.
