We look back on some of the recent programs, unique innovations and groundbreaking moments at Icon which are driving change and increasing access to care.
Cancer services
Australia:
- Marked 40 cancer centres in Australia with the recent opening of Icon Cancer Centre at Noosa, Queensland and The Bays, Victoria and announced a new centre to be built at the New Epping Health Hub in Melbourne’s north. - Icon Cancer Centre Australia’s Survivorship Pilot Program named the Consumer Partnership and Engagement winner at the 2024 Australian Private Hospitals Association Awards for Excellence. The survivorship program will continue to roll-out to more centres in 2025 and beyond.
- Entered a joint venture with 5D Clinics to increase access to CyberKnife technology. The first centre set to open in Melbourne May 2025.

ASEAN:
- Celebrated the one-year anniversary of Icon Oncology Penang – Icon’s first centre in Malaysia reflecting our ongoing commitment to elevating care in the ASEAN region.
- Icon Cancer Centre Singapore won Austcham’s Business Excellence Award underscoring Icon’s significant contribution to cancer care in the region.
United Kingdom:
- Entered a strategic partnership with UK’s largest healthcare charity, Nuffield Health and subsequent acquisition of Nuffield’s Cancer Centre London.
- Appointed Dr Penny Kechagioglou as Icon UK’s Chief Medical Officer, marking a milestone in our strategic growth in the region.
Pharmacy services
- Strengthened our national pharmacy network through a brand consolidation. Aligning our network under the Slade Pharmacy reflects the group’s maturity and enables us to better connect our extensive service offerings through both our hospital and community pharmacies.
- Slade Pharmacy received group-wide provisional accreditation to deliver the Advanced Pharmacy Australia’s Resident Training Program highlighting our commitment to the professional development of early-career pharmacists.
Compounding services
- Celebrated one year of impact at our Slade Health compounding facility in Woodville, South Australia.
- Acquired Pharmaxo Group, a leading pharmaceutical specialist manufacturer and clinical homecare provider based in Corsham, Wiltshire, UK, reflecting Icon’s proven model of entering new marketing and bringing comprehensive integrated healthcare to more communities.
Research
- Launched a Theranostics Research Program, increasing access to precision medicine and cutting-edge clinical trials.
- Introduced clinical trials to our New Zealand centre, Bowen Icon Cancer Centre.
- Became the first Australian organisation to be awarded the Global Quality Standard for Clinical Research Sites (GCSA), and silver level Workforce Process Quality Certification (WPQC), showcasing our quality global clinical trials program.
- Continued to promote Icon Cancer Foundation and launched inaugural grants to encourage research among our clinicians and healthcare professionals.
