Supporting patients to access the best possible care

Alicia completed a Bachelor of Arts / Journalism at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2013, graduating as the year’s Best Online Journalist and Finalist in the industry’s national Ossie Awards for Student Journalism. During this time, Alicia worked part-time at Oncology Research Australia (ORA) the not-for-profit research arm of Radiation Oncology Queensland (ROQ), now part of Icon Group’s research function.

While undertaking several internships across print and online companies, including assistant editor of local publications, she continued to evolve her knowledge of the healthcare landscape through her time at ORA as well as her time at ROQ. As ROQ became part of Icon Group Alicia moved into the Brand and Communications team as a marketing assistant. Since that time she has developed her skills in marketing and communications, adapting her journalism background to deliver results for Icon’s public relations.

Moving into a marketing and communications advisor role, Alicia supported Queensland cancer centres to help deliver strategic marketing plans and the promotion of services across varied stakeholders.

In her most recent positions as a Marketing Business Partner, Alicia has supported teams across Asia to deliver strategic plans and effective communications relevant to the unique cultural landscapes and now leads marketing and communications for the Group and research arm. She is also host of the Iconic Women’s Podcast series continuing to feed her passion for storytelling and provide a platform to champion the incredible people who work at Icon.

Alicia continues to build relationships across the breadth of the Icon network. She has a passion for giving patients a voice through promotion of patient stories across our digital channels and is dedicated to improving the patient experience through effective communication. In line with her commitment to developing meaningful communication, Alicia also leads corporate communications and international PR strategies to position Icon as leaders of cancer care. She also continues to have an eager interest in the varied cultural perceptions of cancer that exist within communities and how Icon can better deliver care as we continue to expand our services globally.
